The Beauty of Chinese Characters and Calligraphy

Dear Friend,

Happy the Year of the Tiger!

To celebrate Chinese Lantern Festival on February 15, our Confucius Institute is going to organize a special webinar on the topic of the Beauty of Chinese Characters and Calligraphy, delivered by Dr. YANG Chen, postdoc from Chinese Calligraphy Culture Research Institute of Capital Normal University.

Chinese characters, also known as Hanzi (汉字), are one of the earliest forms of written language in the world, dating back approximately five thousand years. Nearly one-fourth of the world’s population use Chinese characters today. As an art form, Chinese calligraphy remains an integral aspect of Chinese culture. It is a connective dimension where the Chinese language, history, philosophy, and aesthetics merge. Chinese Characters and Calligraphy can be considered as a key to open the gate of the great treasures of Chinese Culture.

In this difficult COVID-19 period, we would like to share this special event with you. Therefore, we cordially invite you, your family and your friends to enjoy our special event.
